Even in the best of circumstances, having a critically-ill child can take a major emotional and financial toll on a family. Southwest Airlines supports our patients and their caregivers by providing complimentary air travel through their Medical Transportation Grant Program. Southwest's generous support allows our Social Services team to help families during what can be an overwhelming and stressful time.
Our Social Workers help patient families cope by providing emotional support, care coordination and resource assistance. In collaboration with Case Management and Patient Navigation, Social Services assists patient families by coordinating travel arrangements. As a result, patient families feel less burdened, and critically-ill children can come to Packard Children's to receive the treatment they need.
