Ways to Give

When you give to our Foundation, you hand a childhood back to a sick kid and their family. Give your way to help power the next breakthrough discovery, provide compassionate care to kids while they are undergoing treatment, and build a safety net for families who need some extra support.

Stocks and Securities

Make a Gift of Stock

Gifts of appreciated stock and other securities can accelerate innovative research and help our hospital deliver the very best care. When you give appreciated stock (owned for more than one year), you benefit from giving the full market value of the stock—without having to pay any capital gains tax on the appreciation.

How to make a gift of stock:

  1. Contact your broker to arrange the gift. You may use the securities transfer form form to make electronic transfers directly into our brokerage accounts at Morgan Stanley or Charles Schwab. Please send the form to your broker and email a copy to gift.processing@LPFCH.org
  2. Indicate if your gift should be directed to an area other than the Children’s Fund or if your gift is in honor or in memory of someone special.
  3. If you don’t have a broker, or you have a certificate that you would like to give, please call our Advancement Services team at (650) 461-9980 to arrange the gift and receive instructions on how to transfer the certificate.

If you’re interested in learning about additional ways of using your stocks and other securities to fund a gift, contact our Gift Planning team at (650) 461-9990 or giftplanning@LPFCH.org.

Donor-Advised Fund

Give Via a Donor-Advised Fund

Many of our supporters give via a donor-advised fund, which is an investment account for charitable dollars. Setting up a donor-advised fund is easy, and it can be funded with assets at a time that works best for you (e.g., for tax reasons). Then, you can hold the money in your donor-advised fund and let it grow while you decide which specific charities you want to support over time.

Once you have a donor-advised fund set up, simply contact the fund administrator and let them know you have a grant recommendation. You may even be able to do this online and track your previous gifts. The fund administrator will then contact the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health and let us know the gift is coming.

If you’re interested in learning more about how to plan your gift, contact our Gift Planning team at (650) 461-9990 or giftplanning@LPFCH.org.

Gift Designation

Designate Your Gift

When you give to the Children’s Fund, your donation supports patients and their families at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford and research supporting child and maternal health at the Stanford School of Medicine. You can choose to designate your gift to the Children’s Fund or the child health program that is most meaningful to you. Any way you give, 100% of your gift will be used for the purpose you choose.

The Children’s Fund provides flexible support for our hospital’s highest ongoing priorities:

  • care for all children and expectant mothers in our region who need specialized treatment, regardless of their family’s ability to pay,
  • research grants that enable our physicians, caregivers, and scientists to turn innovative ideas into better care for children and expectant mothers, and
  • family and community services that promote healing, such as chaplaincy or recreation therapy, as well as programs like our Teen Health Van and Safely Home car seat fit checks that offer more families access to life-saving care.

Or designate your gift to other priority areas, such as:

Simply designate your gift on our online donation form. Questions? Email us at gift.processing@lpfch.org.
