Yesterday, Mary Leonard, MD, MSCE, Packard Children's chair of pediatrics hosted a virtual panel with our hospital's experts, highlighting our local and national response to COVID-19. Yvonne (Bonnie) Maldonado, MD, a pediatrician and global infectious disease expert, shared how the virus spreads and what it might take to return to some semblance of normalcy. Catherine Blish, MD, PhD, shared how the immune system responds to this disease, the impact on pregnant moms, and our unique role in vaccine development.

At Packard Children's, our focus is always on kids and pregnant women, and that’s true for COVID-19, too. While much is still unknown about the virus’ impact on maternal and child health, we are so proud that our incredible physicians and scientists are part of the solution.

As Dr. Leonard said so beautifully, philanthropy fuels research and drives discoveries. If you are motivated to amplify this work, please share this video and this document about Care and Community. We are deeply grateful for friends like you, whose support enables us to have the greatest impact for kids and moms in our community and around the world.
